“Aging in Place”
What is “Aging in Place”?
“Aging in Place” is the ability to live in one’s home or community safely and independently regardless of ability, age, and income.
Benefits of aging in place:
improves the individual’s quality of life, which affects the person’s overall physical health
allows the individual to save money by remaining in their home versus the cost associated with assisted living facilities or long-term care placement
decrease the person’s risk of exposure to bacterial or viral infections when in shared living spaces (nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, etc.)
promotes independence despite physical or cognitive changes
allow seniors or individuals with cognitive impairments to stay in a familiar environment
The Program accepts the following insurances:
Medicare-covers traditional OT services
Medicaid (Community First Program and Community Options Waiver) -covers home modifications
Tricare (as a non-network provider)-covers driving evaluations and traditional OT services
